What happened in Oregon
Avangrid announced on July 8, 2026 that it had begun panel installation at Oregon Trail Solar, a 57MWdc (41MWac) project in Gilliam County, Oregon. The company said the project is supporting 200 local union jobs during construction. When complete, it is expected to include more than 100,000 solar panels and generate enough electricity for about 10,000 US homes each year. Source: Avangrid.
Why panel installation is a mounting milestone
Panel installation is often treated as a visible construction milestone, but the mounting work begins much earlier. Before modules can move efficiently through the site, the project needs foundation layout, post installation, racking alignment, torque checks, row spacing and material staging to be ready. Delays in the mounting scope can directly affect module installation labor, logistics and commissioning schedule.
Ground-mount planning before construction
For a utility or mid-size ground PV project, the mounting supplier needs accurate module dimensions, table layout, local load basis, soil data and installation tolerances. Driven pile, ground screw and other foundation choices change equipment access and sequencing. If the project is in a windy or snow-prone area, row spacing, rail span and bracing assumptions should be reviewed before procurement, not during field assembly.
Apex product paths to review
For Oregon Trail-style ground PV construction, start with the solar ground mounting systems page and compare driven pile, screw base, terrace and high-clearance options. A project with suitable soil data may begin from the PilePro ground mounting system, while sites prioritizing reduced concrete work may review the ground screw option.
What to send before quotation
Send the project location, module datasheet, layout drawing, geotechnical report if available, pull-out test data if available, wind and snow basis, corrosion exposure and target construction schedule. Apex can then align the mounting family, foundation direction and preliminary BOM discussion before the project reaches site execution.
Prepare your project for Apex review
Send the project location, module datasheet, layout drawing, wind and snow basis, and roof or foundation condition for faster system selection.
