What happened in Oklahoma

PV Tech reported on July 8, 2026 that Leeward Renewable Energy had brought 525MW of solar capacity online in Oklahoma, with another 200MW under construction. The company said the Oklahoma portfolio will reach 725MW once the 200MW Twelvemile Solar III project is complete. The report also noted recently commissioned projects including 125MW Huckleberry Solar and 153MW Twelvemile Solar I and II, with additional Mayes and Salt Branch projects under construction. Why portfolio scale changes mounting decisions

When several projects move as a portfolio, mounting decisions become a repeatability question. Developers want common structure families, familiar installation sequences and predictable documentation, but each site still has its own terrain, soil, interconnection and O&M requirements. Standardizing too much can create field risk; customizing too much can slow procurement. The balance is a disciplined design envelope that can be adapted by site.

Vegetation and land use affect the structure

The Oklahoma news also points to vegetation management across large project areas. Ground clearance, row spacing, access routes and foundation spacing matter for mowing, pollinator-friendly planting and sheep grazing where used. These O&M choices should be discussed before the mounting BOM is locked, because they can affect post height, equipment access and maintenance safety.
