pv magazine reported on July 9, 2026 that Italy's Ministry of Environment and Energy Security approved 566 applications for evaluation under a national incentive scheme supporting photovoltaic self-consumption projects by companies in southern Italy. The report said the program supports PV systems from 10kW to 1MW, with more than EUR 200 million of the EUR 262 million allocation still unassigned. Source: pv magazine.

Why self-consumption favors practical mounting

Business self-consumption projects are usually driven by electricity cost, roof availability and a clear payback target. That makes the mounting package important but cost-sensitive. Buyers need a structure that fits the roof or land area, protects the building envelope, installs quickly and does not introduce avoidable redesign after incentive review.

For a 10kW to 1MW commercial project, roof detail is often more important than the headline capacity. Metal profile, standing seam type, roof sheet thickness, purlin spacing, membrane condition, ballast allowance and local wind exposure all affect mounting selection. Small ground-mount systems also need discipline

Not every self-consumption project sits on a roof. Some factories and farms may use adjacent land for fixed-tilt PV. In those cases, the buyer should still collect soil condition, available area, fence line, drainage path, module orientation and O&M access. A small ground-mount project can lose time if foundation assumptions are left open until the installation stage.
