France C&I Rooftop Tender Highlights Demand for Roof and Carport PV

France's latest C&I solar tender was oversubscribed fivefold, pointing to strong demand for rooftop, agricultural shed and carport PV structures.

What happened in France

PV Tech reported on July 8, 2026 that France awarded 300.23MW of capacity in its latest commercial and industrial rooftop solar tender. The tender covered rooftop PV buildings, greenhouses, agricultural sheds and carport systems above 500kWp. Demand was much higher than the awarded volume: nearly 1,200 applications represented around 1.6GW of capacity, meaning the round was oversubscribed by roughly five times. Why this matters for mounting suppliers

The tender mix is important because it is not only utility ground-mount demand. It includes commercial roofs, agricultural structures and carports, all of which require more site-specific mounting review than open-field land. A metal warehouse roof may need profile-matched clamps or short rails. An agricultural shed may need close attention to purlin spacing, sheet thickness and corrosion exposure. A carport above 500kWp becomes a steel or aluminum structure project as much as a PV project, with vehicle clearance, drainage and foundation interface added to the design discussion.

C&I buyers need better early inputs

When competition is high and prices are moving down, weak technical assumptions create risk. A rooftop or carport quotation should not start with module count alone. Buyers should collect roof profile photos, roof drawings, purlin spacing, local wind and snow basis, waterproofing restrictions, parking layout and clearance requirements before asking for the mounting bill of materials. These inputs help reduce redesign after award and make bids easier to compare.
