Approved scope change
Tendring District Council records an approved variation for its Sunspot solar-panel project, increasing the system from 50 kW to 58 kW. The council's decision record estimates the additional panels could add 60,000 kWh of generation.
What an eight-kilowatt change can affect
More modules can alter usable roof zones, attachment spacing, ballast or pull-out calculations, DC stringing, inverter loading, cable containment and maintenance access. An approved capacity change does not by itself confirm that the original mounting layout can simply be extended.
Buyer impact
Before revising a rooftop order, reconfirm the measured roof area, structural reserve, wind and snow load cases, roof warranty constraints, module dimensions, electrical single-line and utility limits. Record the revised design assumptions so the mounting, electrical and construction packages stay aligned.
Next step for project teams
Provide the original layout, revised module schedule, roof drawings and load basis for a fresh review. Apex commercial rooftop mounting options can be compared against the confirmed project conditions. Source: Tendring District Council decision record.
