India's Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research (IGCAR) has published a tender for revamping existing rooftop solar PV plants and establishing new grid-connected rooftop PV plants without a battery bank at Kalpakkam. The notice lists a tender value of INR 10,920,000, a 240-day work period and a 25 September 2026 bid-submission deadline.
Why retrofit scope changes the mounting review
An operating rooftop portfolio needs a different first review from a clean new-build roof. EPC teams need to separate reusable equipment from replacement scope, then confirm roof condition, water-tightness responsibility, attachment zones, structural reserve, access and cable-route constraints. That survey record should control the final racking layout rather than an assumed module count.
Buyer impact
For a combined revamp and expansion package, bidders should identify outage windows, isolation ownership, sequence between removal and installation, module compatibility, earthing continuity and commissioning tests. The mounting schedule should also state the roof substrate, fixing method, corrosion environment, local wind basis and interfaces with lightning protection and drainage.
