What is being tendered

GAIL has issued a tender for a 600 MW solar project paired with a 275 MW / 550 MWh battery energy storage system at TUSCO Solar Park in Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh. The project is part of GAIL's previously disclosed 700 MW solar investment plan. Source: Mercom India.

Why the package matters

Co-locating storage changes the delivery plan, but it does not remove the need for a disciplined PV balance-of-plant scope. EPC teams need the solar field layout, access routes, drainage, cable corridors and inverter-block interfaces settled early enough for civil and mechanical packages to stay aligned.

Mounting decisions should start with site data

For a utility-scale site, foundation selection and row geometry should follow geotechnical data, terrain, module format, corrosion exposure and the project load basis. Solar ground mounting systems can be reviewed as fixed-tilt, pile or tracker options once those inputs are available.

Buyer impact

Suppliers and EPC bidders should clarify package boundaries, construction sequencing and documentation requirements before pricing. A credible mounting quotation should state its foundation assumptions, structural design basis and interface exclusions rather than treating the solar field as an isolated line item.
