Flexible PV Certification Opens a New Mounting Qualification Path

Apollo Power's lightweight flexible module claim may suit constrained roofs, but attachment, fire, wind and lifetime evidence remain essential.

The certification claim

Apollo Power has announced certification for a lightweight flexible photovoltaic module aimed at surfaces where conventional glass modules may be difficult to use. Source: pv magazine.

Structural load is only one question

Lower module mass can help a constrained roof, but buyers still need the certified model, attachment method, wind uplift basis, fire behaviour, drainage, cable routing and substrate compatibility.

Lifecycle evidence matters

Flexible laminates can use different adhesives and encapsulation from framed glass modules. Pull-off testing, thermal movement, replacement method and warranty boundary should be defined for the offered roof build-up.

Buyer impact

Send Apex the roof membrane, substrate, allowable loads, wind basis and certified module documents before selecting rails, bonded attachment or a project-specific support frame.
